A Hawaiian sovereignty group called the Hawaiian Kingdom Government once again gathered at Iolani Palace even though it did not have the proper permit.

About 33 members of the group met Monday after the state Department of Land and Natural Resources denied their permit to assemble Friday.

DLNR Director Laura Theilen said in a letter to the group that it violated conditions of their previous permit, including trying to enter Iolani Palace, entering palace buildings, collecting money and setting up a tent.

The group went to DLNR to get a new permit on Monday.

Last month, the Hawaiian Kingdom Government locked the gates at the palace for a day, saying the land was rightfully theirs.
