Schofield Soldier Dies From Baghdad Explosion

A soldier with Schofield Barracks died Thursday from injuries he suffered in an explosion in Baghdad.

Sgt. John K. Daggett, 21, of Phoenix, Ariz., was injured on May 1, when a rocket-propelled grenade hit the vehicle he was in.

Daggett was in Halifax, Canada, enroute to Walter Reed Army Medical Center when he died. The crew stopped there to tend to Daggett's injuries.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division. He joined the Army in June 2005.
