A white bird that has helped guide Polynesian voyagers is now Honolulu's official city bird.

The manuoku, or white tern, is found on Oahu and in the Northwest Hawaiian Islands.

It breeds throughout the Northwest Hawaiian Islands and has been a traditional wayfinder for ancient and modern Polynesian voyagers.
