The Honolulu medical examiner has identified the 22-year-old woman who died after jumping in the water at the Spitting Caves in Hawaii Kai on Sunday.
The woman was identified as Shannon Nunez of Marine Corps Base Hawaii at Kaneohe Bay.
Two friends tried to pull the woman out of the water until rescue crews arrived. Firefighters, lifeguards and paramedics tried to revive the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
No one else was injured. The cause of death is pending further investigation.
