Meanwhile, the Medical Examiner's Office said Thursday the woman died from blood loss as a result of multiple stab wounds to her neck and body.
The woman has not been identified by either police or the medical examiner, but detectives said Wednesday night the case may be connected to a fatal car crash Monday in Central Oahu. In that crash, the driver of a 2011 white Nissan Rogue was burned beyond recognition after losing control of the vehicle on Kamehameha Highway and crashing into a utility pole near Paalaa Uka Pupukea Road just before 6:30 p.m. Police say it may take another week to identify the driver, believed to be a man.
According to court records, the registered owner of the Nissan obtained a divorce in January of last year. His ex-wife may be the woman whose body was found Wednesday at about 3:30 p.m. when police officers performed a welfare check.
