Street was closed off to drivers this morning after a 12 inch water main break... Leaving 18 customers without water. KITV4's Ashley Moser shows us how residents and businesses are handling the mess. 01 31 48 101 Saiki 52:56 "QUIET... REAL QUIET. HAHA. ONLY THE GUSHING WATER." 53:01 Residents on Waipahu Street say this is usually a calm area but today, instead of a peace and quiet...they woke to this. "Nat" A major flow of unwanted water poured down this private driveway after 12 inch watermain break at around 4:30 this morning...keeping residents of two homes ...on their toes. Luckily both homes went untouched. Ben 46:57 "YEAH LUCKY OUR HOUSE. BUT THE HOUSE RIGHT HERE YOU CAN SEE THE CAR THERE'S A BIG PILE OF ROCKS ALL RIGHT BY THE CAR DOOR." 47:04 Gravel and rocks pushed 20 feet downhill...while Board of Water Supply crews coned off the area near the broken valve between Waipahu Depot Road and Malakeke Place. IF YOU TAKE A LOOK...GRAVEL HAS BEEN PUSHED UP FROM THE PRESSURE FROM THAT WATERMAIN BREAK ...COMPLETELY SEPARATING IT FROM THE THIS BUSINESSES PARKING LOT." 59:56 Closing off customers from businesses along this stretch of road. I DON'T THINK THEY'LL LET THEM PARK IN FRONT." 55:41 But even with limited access and no water...Saiki Motors managed to stay open ...being creative with their water source. While residents use the day to bounce back from this soggy situation. Ashley Moser KITV 4 news. Board of Water Supply crews say the cause of the break is still under investigation. And it's been a busy afternoon... B-W-S crews are ALSO responding to a main break at the intersection of Wana'ao Road and Wana'ao Place in Kailua Some 82 homes lost water service when the 8-inch main broke. A water wagon has been set up.
