Trends & Talkers: Aloha StadiumUPDATED 7:48 PM HST Jul 10, 2014Video Transcript
PAUSE FOR MUSIC What to do with Aloha Stadium? Right now, the stadium authority is hosting an open forum, to the allow the public to weigh. Both the University of Hawaii and the stadium itself have separate proposals, allowing for 35,000 seats - the cost of a new facility between $120 to $195 million dollars. Christine Salvesen thinks that's "Kind of expensive for a state that is broke and does not have a professional football team!!" Malo Taumua doesn't think they're thinking big enough, saying "35,000 seat stadium? HECK NO! If they gonna make a new stadium make it massive! Then maybe more sporting events could come to hawaii, maybe even a Super Bowl." And Eric Ho suggests, "Tear it down, relocate it to Kapolei, make it a super dome that way we can hold other major sporting events as well. Have lottery here to help offset our deficit and generate more income for the state of Hawaii." We'll have more from tonight's open forum on our news at 10. In the meantime, let us know what you think should be done with the aging facility by heading to our facebook page. Paula?
