A suspicious package was found at the state capitol's Unity Flame Memorial Friday morning.
Honolulu police and sheriffs responded and closed off Beretania Street from Punchbowl Street to Merchant Street.
Sheriffs initially made a sweep of the building grounds with K9 dogs. HPD's bomb squad was called in for further assistance with robotic help. Honolulu Fire Department was also called to the scene.
Only the Punchbowl Street entrance remained open at the state capitol. The Miller Street entrance had been closed.
All buses and traffic were being rerouted around the road closure.
