Honolulu police are looking for a man who they say tried to run over an officer in the Red Hill area Thursday morning and that officer fired a shot at the vehicle.
The incident happened just after 11 a.m. on Moanalualani Place near the First Assembly of God. It happened near an area where children were.
One of the kids say they heard one gunshot.
Police have closed off the road for the investigation.
The vehicle was last seen going westbound on the H-1 Freeway near the Ala Kapuna Street overpass.
Police say they're looking for a gold-colored 1990 Toyota 4-door sedan with the license plate FVT 822. The vehicle was reported stolen on Wednesday from the Pearl City/Aiea area. The suspect is described as a bald male wearing sunglasses with a long-sleeved orange shirt.
If the public has any information, they can call 911 or CrimeStopper at 955-8300.
The officer was not seriously injured. He was taken to the hospital to get checked out. It is not known if the man in the vehicle was injured.
