9 years after her remains were removed from their resting place in Kalaupapa, St. Marianne Cope returned to the islands today. Bishop Larry Silva and Sisters of the order of St. Francis welcomed the casket containing her bones this afternoon. ... flown in from Syracuse, New York where they had been enshrined in the mother house chapel. Her remains will be permanently installed at the newly re-named Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace, downtown.
