A day after the Department of Health started up its new restaurant rating system, at least two eateries that initially received yellow violation placards, have quickly corrected their problems. KITV4's Paul Drewes has this update on the state's new safety program. While yellow may mean caution, slow down when you're driving. Now Nico's has a green placard on its front door. So everyone can see how it did on its latest health inspection. nico@2:26 I think its good for the customer that the state is in charge and it is working out. Anything from refrigeration temperatures being too warm, to not having soap or a separate sink for hand washing. 3:00 "if we see utensils in the sink that's a violation because they're not supposed to use this sink for anything except hand washing" But would a yellow placard posted at a restaurant deter people from eating there? emily@7:43 "if I see the yellow, not immediately but if I come back and see the red or green then yeah it will determine if I go there" casey@12:08 "we've got a toddler, so the more sterile the conditions the better. So definitely concern for his livelihood" There were a total of six Oahu restaurants that initially received the yellow placard. Two of those now have green ones, two did not respond to our calls, and another pair still have their conditional pass placard. State inspectors will visit those last four for another follow up food safety check tomorrow. Yunji.
