Josiah Hunt lives in lower Puna, another area affected. He decided to document the destruction left by Tropical Storm Iselle in the neighboring areas.
Hunt says residents told him waters surged five feet above high tide, rushed in and brought lots of debris with it. He says people are overwhelmed.
"It's getting tough. People have been living without basic necessities for a while now and now I think people are really tired. Now, I think it's extremely important for any and all support that we can get," said Hunt. "If people want to help Puna, come down here with some hot food, some cold beverages and a sharp chainsaw."
Hunt says community members are coming together to get each another back on their feet, but says they still need lots of outside help.
