Police week is underway to remember those who lay down their lives to protect and serve here in Hawaii.
Officers gathered at the Honolulu police station on Beretania Street for their annual memorial walk to the State Capitol Monday evening.
The candlelight memorial service was expected to start at 6:30 p.m.
The march also created some traffic for drivers in the area. Two lanes were closed on Beretania Street between Victoria St. and Richards St. At 5:30 p.m. an additional was blocked off.
Drivers should expect further closures for the event. Alapai St. between King and Beretania streets will be closed at 6 p.m. Cars will be directed.
Vehicles heading Makai on Punchbowl were forced to turn right into the Ewa bound lane on Beretania St.
No vehicles were allowed mauka bound on Punchbowl Street between King and Beretania streets.
After all the people participating in the walk passed, police started to reopen the roads.
