Global leaders will be in Hawaii to share their stories of peace and inspire us to live aloha.
Pillars of Peace Hawaii will be hosting a public forum at the end of August with some elders. "The Elders" are statesman and women who have retired from political life.
The three Elders who are coming to the islands include: Gro Harlem Brundtland, the first female prime minister of Norway; Hina Jilani, a Pakistani women's rights activist; Archbishop Desmond Tutu, a Nobel Peace Laureate.
"We really want to inspire people to live compassionate and mindful lives in Hawaii and we feel that the elders have the ability to cross borders with no biases and bringing those ideas and influences to Hawaii," said Beth Kuch of the Hawaii Community Foundation.
The Pillars of Peace program will be on Aug. 31 at the Hawaii Convention Center.
Tickets are $20 per person and $12 for students with a valid ID.
