An Oahu family is homeless after a house fire Friday morning.
Firefighters are still investigating what caused the fire in the single-story home on Palolo Avenue.
Fire officials say they received reports of the fire around 2:44 a.m. and had the flames under control by 3:10 a.m.
With 45 firefighters on scene, three residents and one dog were able to escape safely without injury. Unfortunately, the house was a total loss.
“The fire started. They all ran. Some of them went down. Some of them went up the street. But, they are all safe,” said Jeffrey Chang of the Honolulu Fire Department.
The fire may have been started by a candle, but fire officials will continue investigating to confirm the cause.
The Red Cross is helping the family.
