Oahu Community Correctional Center inmate Daniel Skelton could face up to 10 years behind bars after he escaped from the prison and led police and U.S. Marshals on a massive manhunt last month.
Skelton appeared in court on Wednesday. Watch the video.
Before his escape on June 16, he had been in prison for violating probation on a burglary conviction.
Judge Steven Alm was planning to sentence Skelton to 10 years for the probation violation, but Skelton contested.
A hearing will be held on July 11 to further consider his sentence.
Skelton was caught in lower Nuuanu two days after he escaped from OCCC. His attorney says Skelton has not yet been indicted for escape or any escape-related charges.
