Honolulu police say Akaula Street between Akaula Place and Akaawa Street in Makakilo was closed Monday afternoon due to a water main break.
The announcement was made just before 3 p.m.
The Board of Water Supply says crews responded to the 8-inch water main break that was reported at around 2 p.m. About 26 homes were without service. The main was originally installed in 1964. A water wagon was available for affected customers.
The break was scheduled to be repaired by 11 p.m. Police say the road was reopened Tuesday morning at around 4:45 a.m.
Police also say Hausten Street was closed between Kapiolani Boulevard and Date Street due to a downed utility pole. The closure was announced at around 3 p.m.
Witnesses say the pole came down after a garbage truck got tangled in the lines, dragging the pole into a parked car. No one was injured.
Hausten Street has since been reopened.
