EVERY LITTLE NOISE I'M AWAKE A Des Moines family says this surveillance video shows police used excessive force to serve a search warrant in their home. But Ankeny police say the homeowners would not answer their door. Todd Magel is LIVE in the newsroom with the video and the story. Kevin and Stacey. The video was shot by multiple cameras on a home surveillance system. The north east side homeowner says she's terrified to stay in her home now. But police say what they found proves there's more to the story. The fear and the anxiety are still strong but at least I'm not breaking down into tears any time I talk about it any more Sally Prince says even though she wasn't home when police used a ram to break down her door, she's still upset. Last Thursday a video system in her home recorded the suburban emergency response team serving an Ankeny search warrant for stolen wallets and credit cards . She says police didn't give her son and his friends a chance. They didn't give them time to open the door. Pound Pound Pound, Battering ram, It was that quick I was actually in the restroom when it happened so I shocked the hell out of me But Ankeny police chief Gary Mikulec says officers did pound on the exterior wall before entering. He says the families video shows as police entered the home, the suspects in living room turned and ran into another room... The chief says that shows the people inside were trying to hide. Ankeny's police chief is not ready to speak on camera about the case. But he says he expects to announce 14 felony charges and more details on the police search at this east side house on Wednesday. Princes family also says police tried to take disable the home's video surveillance system once they got inside. But police say Officers were moving insulation on a wall near the camera to check for evidence. So why such an elaborate video system in the house? To stop recent vandalism. He decided it was time to put up cameras to monitor what was going on and who was doing it Eventually police arrested two people in the home. One... Richard Adair was wanted on a 100,000 bond for delivering meth. Owner Sally Prince says now she faced with several smashed doors and lots of questions. She says if only police would have waited for someone to come to the door. We would have let them in Sally Prince says she didn't really know man and women who were arrested. She was just trying to give them a home in the cold weather. Ankeny police say they plan to have a news release on just exactly what happened ready to go tomorrow. Todd, you mentioned Ankeny did NOT execute the search warrant. right... It was the Suburban emergency response team or SERT ..it's a new, kind of swat team, that helps in emergency situations in Altoona, Ankeny , Clive, Johnston Urbandale, West Des Moines and the Dallas County. Thanks, Todd.
