Plans to bring an emergency room to the Big Island's Puna Community Medical Center are moving forward.
The Hawaii Tribune Herald reports the center has obtained a lease for five acres of state land between Ainaloa and Pahoa village where it hopes to build a new facility.
About $3 million to $4 million will need to be raised for construction.
The emergency room will serve residents from Volcano thru Keaau.
The paper says so far the medical center has received $750,000 from the state legislature and $5,000 from Hawaii County.
