Officials lifted a lockdown at North Carolina A&T State University's campus in Greensboro Friday afternoon, more than two hours after police began investigating a report of a person with a weapon on campus.
Police have deemed the campus safe, according to university spokesman Nettie Rowland. She did not elaborate on whether police found anyone with a weapon or whether the report was true.
The university said on its website and its Twitter account that classes would resume at 2 p.m. ET.
No shots or injuries were reported, a school representative said earlier.
The school had urged people on campus to stay inside while police searched the area Friday morning.
