Grammy and Hoku award-winning slack key master Dennis Kamakahi has died.
The music legend and reverend lost his battle to lung cancer at the age of 61.
Kamakahi was honored in early April on his birthday with a dinner and silent auction. That event raised more than $10,000 that went to Kamakahi's medical expenses.
"I think every musician's played a song of Uncle Dennis' before – one of his compositions. People love his music," said Pali Ka'aihue who organized the fundraiser. "It's a testament to what a wonderful person he is and how much his music has blessed all of us."
We will have more on Kamakahi's legacy on KITV at 10.
