The work started in May and Stanford Carr Development's work will make way for a new and improved community gathering space. This includes a new basketball court, playground and new landscaping.
The Hawaii Community Development Authority believes the upgrades will better serve the residents of Halekauwila Place next door, as well as the rest of the Kaka'ako community.
"This is a give back as part of the Halekauwila project. Developer and the agency feels strongly that public benefits, such as improvements to our adjacent park, is necessary," said Tony Ching, HCDA Executive Director.
The newly renovated Mother Waldron Park is expected to reopen sometime in September.
