Hawaiian Airlines began selling tickets Monday for its new service to Auckland, New Zealand for travel originating from Honolulu, Hawaii's neighbor islands, and the airline's 11 gateway cities in North America.
Subject to government approval, the new service launches on March 13, 2013.
"We're making it far easier for travelers in Hawaii and North America to visit New Zealand while enjoying the hospitality that is the hallmark of Hawaiian Airlines," said Peter Ingram, Hawaiian's executive vice president and chief commercial officer.
Hawaiian will operate nonstop flights three days per week between Honolulu and Auckland and will be the only U.S. carrier flying the route.
Hawaiian's flights from North America to Honolulu allow convenient same-day connections to Auckland, avoiding the need to change airlines or terminals.
Round-trip tickets to Auckland for travel completed by April 25, 2013 from the following Hawaiian Airlines cities, including all taxes and fees, start at:
- $990 - Honolulu
- $1,095 - Lihue, Kahului, Hilo, Kona
- $1,204 - San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Sacramento, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Las Vegas
- $1,539 - New York City
Prices are subject to change and based on seat availability.
Hawaiian's fares for its new Auckland service allow stopovers on Oahu for travelers making connections in Honolulu at no additional charge.
Beginning March 13, Hawaiian's Flight HA 445 will depart Honolulu International Airport at 1:45 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, cross the international dateline, and land at Auckland Airport at 9:55 p.m. the following day.
