For the fifth straight week, gas prices dropped around the state as residents and visitors celebrated the Fourth of July holiday, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.
The Hawaii state average price dropped to $4.24, which is 5 cents lower than last week, 24 cents lower than last month and 21 cents more than a year ago.
Honolulu’s average price dropped to $4.15 a gallon for regular unleaded -- three cents less than last week, 20 cents less than last month and 23 cents more than a year ago at this time.
In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.22 a gallon, which is three cents less than last week, 43 cents less than last month and 22 cents higher than this time last year.
Wailuku’s average is $4.54 a gallon, 17 cents less than last week, 34 cents less than last month and 17 cents higher than last year.
