Timing is everything. Our latest Mixed Plate adventure had us in Europe during the worst storm of the century. Still, when life gives you lemons ...Here's MP on the Rhine as we enter Germany. First light reveals an alarming rise in water levels. To the south, at the source of the river, the Danube is spilling its storm overflow directly into our path. Traffic on the Rhine comes to a stop.We can go no further. When the water is this high, vessels cannot pass under the hundreds of bridges spanning Germany's river arteries. As the sun recedes, so do water levels... by 3 meters. It might be just enough for our riverboat to escape under the Cologne bridge. Music We are underway. Next stop France. That's next week on Mixed Plate. Tomorrow, the best and the wurst of German cuisine. Justin ad-lib...
