A plane makes an emergency landing on Maui... ...coming down in the northbound direction of Pi'ilani Highway and ended up coming to stop near Kilohana Drive. Fire department personnel say the plane was a Mokulele Airlines Express -- that had to make the landing because of engine trouble. Rescue personnel say there were 8 passengers and 2 pilots. The state Department of Transportation is investigating. A man who was driving under the influence when he killed a Mililani man -- will have spend the rest of his life telling others about what he did. 21 year old Bryson Oshiro pleaded "no contest" to first degree negligent homicide for killing 18 year old Orlando Vallejo Junior. Oshiro was speeding and had been drinking when the car he was driving hit Vallejo while Vallejo was standing next to his car on Kupuna Loop in Village Park. Judge Karen Ahn sentenced Oshiro to 18 months behind bars, 5 years probation and 750 hours of community service. His community service requires Oshiro to tell local students about the tragedy. Oshiro also has to pay 18- THOUSAND dollars in restitution. A possible sale is in the works... for the Big Island's beleaguered Naniloa hotel... A bankruptcy judge says were three offers submitted -- but one was thrown out. Starwood and Outrigger hotels told KITV... they've been working with potential owner groups about what it would take to overhaul the aging structure. A motion detailing the offers could be filed today. Kauai County officials will ask.... ...the state for a larger slice of Hawaii's hotel room tax. The nine point 2-5 percent surcharge on hotel rooms brought in over 13 and a half million dollars last year. However, the county wants to see that doubled to nearly 27 and a half million according to the Garden Island. The city is temporarily shutting down a popular bike path in Aiea. Starting TOMORROW- the Pearl Harbor Bike Path will be closed between McGrew Loop and Hekaha Street for bridge repair work. The city says some beams on the bridge are rotting and need to be fixed for safety reasons. Anyone who uses the path in this area is advised to use alternative routes. The closure is scheduled to last through November 27th. Crews are working to fix a water main break in Pearl City-- The 8-inch-break happened around 12:40 this morning. This is on Hoohena Street-- just down from Waimano Home Road. This is NOT a main street, so traffic is not impacted. They do have a water wagon in place-- and B-W-S expects repairs to last throughout the day. Drivers on the Windward side -- This week expect lane closures caused by the Kaneohe Bay Drive Rehabilitation Project. One lane will be closed in both directions -- between Kamehameha Highway and Nanamoana Street. Work will be done daily from 8-30 A-M until 3 P-M -- today until Friday.
