Thanks for watching KITV News online, I'm Lara Yamada. The escapee from the Laumaka Work Furlough Center in Kalihi was captured last night. 29 year old Ernest Vierra was discovered missing after a headcount Friday morning. Authorities say Vierra is a work furlough inmate --with community custody status. Authorities add that Vierra will now also be charged with escape. A U-S Marine is now accused of murdering an escort on Oahu. This case is going to MILITARY court tomorrow at Marine Corp Base Hawaii. Master Sgt. Nathanial Cosby has been in the brig since June. He is believed to be involved in the death of Ivy Harris, whose nude body was found at Yokohama Bay back in May. Cosby has been charged with unpremeditated murder, murder while engaging in an inherently dangerous act, voluntary manslaughter, obstructing justice and patronizing a prostitute. This is an article 32 hearing -- meaning there are key differences than in a hearing in civil court. And attorneys are able to question witnesses. THE REALLY UNIQUE PART OF IT IS YOU ONLY NEED 2/3 TO CONVICT, YOU CAN HAVE 1/4 OF THE JUST THINK YOU ARE INNOCENT AND YOU CAN STILL BE CONVICTED. If the case goes to a general court martial -- Cosby would NOT be tried before a jury of his peers. Neighbors on the North Shore are invited to a public board meeting tonight. One of the hot topics-- is the endless traffic caused from cars stopping at Laniakea Beach. And tomorrow-- the Laniakea Task force will VOTE on the whether or not to put up barricades. The meeting is at 6:30 tomorrow night-- at Haleiwa Elementary School. Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki will meet with leaders of the University of Hawaii system today. The Kauai native and U-H leaders will discuss the new Vet-Success program at the university. Also on the agenda -- initiatives to help student veterans and their dependents graduate, reach education goals, and find meaningful employment. The Vet-Success program is a collaboration between the U-S Department of Affairs and colleges across the country. And a Traffic reminder for drivers ... Tonight, the year long H-1 rehabilitation project continues... There will be lane closures on H-1-- Headed East bound -- between Likelike and Ward Avenue. One of those lane closures will be from 9 PM to 4 AM, and the second lane also going east bound will be closed from 11 tonight to 3 in the morning. That means two lanes will be closed from 11 PM to 3 AM. These shut downs will last till Thursday. Cam Tran has your island weather forecast. Thank you for watching KITV 4 News Online.
