I'm Lara Yamada, thanks for watching KITV-4 online. The H1 rehabilitation project is underway on Oahu--- The freeway will shut down at 8pm TONIGHT-- from the Likelike Highway to Ward Street-- and re-open at 4 tomorrow morning. After that-- it will change to TWO lane closures. One shutting down at 9pm-- and the second closing at 11pm. All lanes should be re-opened by 4am. D-L-N-R will be issuing permits for the hunting of feral goats and sheep in the Pu-u Waa-waa Forest Reserve on the Big Island. Starting September 28th, hunting will only be allowed on four weekends. A valid hunting licence is required for the permit. For more information, contact the Division of Forestry and Wildlife. A 23 year-old hiker is recovering this morning-- after being airlifted from Maunawili Falls Trail after she jumped about 70 feet from the top of the falls. The woman told HFD she injured her back and could not feel her legs or feet. She was taken to the trauma center in SERIOUS condition. The trial begins today... for the man accused in a deadly stabbing at Ala Moana Center. 26-year old Jacob Le pleaded "not guilty" to second degree murder in the stabbing death of Brent Keola Kanae. Kanae was found in a stairwell near the Bubba Gump restaurant on October 3rd last year -- with three stab wounds to his chest. Detectives say Le eventually confessed to the crime. Police say the two men were friends. Keehi Lagoon is back open-- after the 233-thousand gallon molasses spill. The lagoon was closed because biologists said the nutrient rich molasses could cause an unusual increase in harmful bacteria. And with thousands of dead fish ... the D-L-N-R believed there would be an increase in sharks and baracudas. A new report released today-- finds those of Mexican-origin living in Hawaii-- fare better HERE... rather than the mainland. But... It's a much different case when compared to our local population. That's why the Migration Policy Institute and U-H Manoa's Department of Ethics will discuss their report on the challenges and prospects for Mexicans in Hawaii. Their briefing will be held at the Hawaii State Capitol today. Cam Tran has your island weather forecast. Thank you for watching KITV 4 News Online.
