Ma`o Organic Farms says it will be returning to farmers markets and other venues after the tragic death of a woman at Kapi`olani Community College last month.
On March 15, Anne Runland was struck and killed by a Ma`o Organic Farms truck at the KCC Farmers' Market. Ma`o Organic Farms says it is cooperating with the official police investigation.
The Hawai'i Farm Bureau Federation and Kapi'olani Community College agreed on some updated procedures to insure added safety for market visitors and vendors.
These procedures were distributed to vendors and were implemented starting when the Farmers' Market reopened the next Saturday.
With the completion of the lunar moon phase, Ma`o Organic Farms says it observed a cultural protocol of ka manawa kuluwaimaka -- a period of quietude, reflection and healing toward reconciliation and restoration.
The company sends its deepest sympathies and condolences to those impacted by the tragic events, mostly especially, the `ohana of Runland.
