This year, for the first time, a lot of kids have to go to school earlier and stay longer AT WASHINGTON MIDDLE SCHOOL -- WHEN THE BELL RINGS, STUDENTS KNOW ITS TIME TO CHANGE CLASSES. AND THIS YEAR... THEY'LL STAY IN THOSE CLASSROOMS A LITTLE LONGER.... THE 915 INSTRUCTIONAL HOURS THAT WAS REQUIRED BY LAW IN THE PAST.... HAS NOW INCREASED TO 990 HOURS .
