Dam. The first of two days of services began tonight to remember the late Kumu Hula Aloha Dalire Dalire died August 6th at her home. She brought her halau to the merry monarch for many many years.... And was the festivals very first Miss Aloha Hula. We talked with her--- one merrie monarch year--- about the importance of hula in her life. 27:13-27:34 KUMU HULA ALOHA DALIRE "IT'S A PART OF ME ITS EVERYTHING I DO ITS EERYTHING I SEE ITS EVERYTHING I FELL AND ACTUALLY H ULA IS MY SOUL. HULA IS MY SOUL AND ITS ME MY ESSENCE AND I DON'T KNOW IF I WILL EVERY BE ABLE TO WALK AWAY FROM IT." And she didn't .... just weeks before her death she brought her halau to the Queen Liliuokalani Keiki hula competition... where she saw her granddaughter compete as a soloist. The wake will be held tonight from 5-8:30 pm at the Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. The viewing will take place tomorrow from 10am followed by a celebration of life from 1-3pm. This Saturday night at 6:00 KITV will broadcast "The Light in the Lady's Eyes" a documentary of Aloha Dalire and her Legacy of Hula.
