The Hawaii Department of Health has issued a brown water advisory and is asking the public to say out of the Wailua River on Kauai and the portion of Wailua Bay near the river mouth after finding a landslide at Mount Waialeale.
The announcement was made near midday on Wednesday.
Health officials say there could be possible dead animals, fecal matter, broken trees, debris, overflowing cesspools, herbicide and pesticides.
The Clean Water Branch was notified by the Surfrider Kauai Chapter late Tuesday that the Wailua River was very turbid although there was very little rain in the area.
The Kauai County Public Information Office got information about an apparent landslide at Mount Waialeale.
