A bedbug explosion has some inmates at the Oahu Community Correctional Center up in arms.
The Hawaii Department of Public Safety isn’t calling the situation an infestation just yet, but it does say that bedbugs have been a reoccurring problem in one area of OCCC.
KITV spoke with an inmate who lives in the area with the bedbugs. He showed us his bites and told us he’s seen the bugs all over that section of the prison.
The area is called module 20. It has room for 120 inmates in the prison’s work furlough program.
Those inmates go out for work and family visits. Officials believe they’re bringing back bedbugs with them.
