Bank of Hawaii Foundation has given $125,000 for Hawai'i Pacific University to build a learning commons area at Aloha Tower Marketplace.
Our partners at Pacific Business News report say the learning commons will serve as a learning and technology center for students, faculty and the community.
The planned facility is part of HPU's $30 million vision to transform the marketplace into a mix of student dorms, retail and restaurant spaces and other school uses.
The learning commons will be located on the first floor on the harborside.
Construction is expected to be complete by 2015.
