Water main break partially closes Makakilo road

KAPOLEI, Hawaii -

Board of Water Supply crews were working Tuesday morning to repair a break to an 8-inch main break near 92-685 Anipeahi Street in Makakilo.

Repairs to the main has resulted in the closure of Anipeahi Street in both directions between Aoloko Street and Ualehei Street.

By 8 a.m., crews reopened the westbound lane of Anipeahi Street.  The eastbound lanes will remain closed during the main repairs.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and to use alternate routes where possible. The main was originally installed in 1965.

Approximately four customers are affected by the break which was reported at approximately 11:25 p.m. on Monday, July 1.

A water wagon has been positioned at 92-670 Anipeahi Street to provide water to affected customers. Repairs are expected to continue throughout the day and into the evening.
