Crews repair 16-inch water main in McCully

Road repair is expected into Friday evening

The Board of Water Supply says crews have completed repairs to a 16-inch water main on McCully Street near Kapiolani Boulevard Friday.

Water service was restored to affected customers at noon.

However, road repairs are expected to go into Friday evening.  The right westbound lane on Kapiolani Bouelvard between Pumehana Street and Wiliwili Street is closed as well as all lanes on McCully Street between Lime Street and Kapiolani Boulevard.

Honolulu police closed roads near McCully Street and Kapiolani Boulevard as water gushed out of the sidewalk Thursday afternoon at around 5:15 p.m.

The intersection was closed during rush-hour traffic Thursday evening.

At 8:30 p.m. Thursday, crews shut down water to begin repairs to the main.

Two customers were without water, one condominium and one business.  A water wagon was positioned fronting 620 McCully Street to provide water to the affected customers.
