A Waipahu family shared their heartbreak Monday evening.
Three young girls talk about their dad -- the man police believe was murdered Sunday night just a few miles from his own home. Like the rain that came down outside, the tears fell in the Basuel home.
According to police, Marlo Basuel was stabbed at a Waipahu house party, murdered after an argument.
His three daughters revealed more about the man they knew.
"My dad was an outspoken man, he likes to interact with people and is very friendly. He makes us smile," said his 15 year-old daughter Abegaile.
"My dad is a great role model for us. He works hard for his family," said 11 year-old Chelsea.
Basuel worked as a machine operator at Hawaiian Isles in Halawa, but his family said he also made sure to spend time with them.
"My dad is a really nice guy. He suffers for his family and does the best he can do," said Chelsea.
"He's funny, always playing around and by my side when I need him," said 13 year-old Britney.
Now, other family members are the ones to offer comfort to the grieving girls.
"It helps give me a sense of comfort that they are here for me, my dad, my mom, and sisters. They're here to help us go through this tough time," said Abegaile.
Basuel leaves behind his three daughters and a wife.
"I always thought of him as someone who was there for us, and now I wish he would come home," added Abegaile.
Police have not revealed what the argument was that led up to Basuel's death.
They have not yet arrested a suspect in this murder investigation.
