Suspect in McKinley H.S. stabbing appears in court

Thomas, 21, accused of attempted murder

HONOLULU -

The 21-year-old man charged in the stabbing at McKinley High School this week made his first court appearance Thursday.

Axery Thomas is accused of attempted murder in the stabbing of 43-year-old Akapito Rafael early Tuesday morning.

Bail is set at $50,000.

Police were called to the South King Street campus at around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.  An officer found Rafael with five stab wounds.

Rafael told the officer that Thomas stabbed him.

A second man arrested has been released pending further investigation.
