This morning, we boarded buses for the two-hour drive to where the Koob family first settled from and during naturalization the family name became Cope.

Mother Marianne was an infant then, but she made quite an impact later in this predominantly German immigrant community. At 's hospital, which she founded, sisters carry on the Franciscan nursing tradition.

Medicine is in Mother Marianne’s family as well. Her great, great grand nephew Dr. Paul DeMare is one of several descendants making the pilgrimage.

“I’m hoping people can learn by example, to help people who need help," said DeMare.

This afternoon, the Mass at the motherhouse of the St. Francis Sisters, St. Anthony Convent.

It is wonderful to see the Sisters so excited to see one of their own becoming a saint!
