An energy storage company that provided battery systems for several local renewable energy products has filed for bankruptcy.
Xtreme Power, based in Texas, filed for Chapter 11 protection in bankruptcy court last week. The company's CEO says the company should end up as an attractive acquisition.
Last November, Xtreme Power announced a new solar project on Kauai.
It was slated to be the company's eighth system in the state.
In 2012, one of the company's battery storage systems at the Kahuku First Wind project was damaged by fire.
