Waipahu ... And apparently NOT just on Halloween.. This is a real-life ghost story ... And lots of people have one there. KITV-4's Brenton Awa shows us what might be lurking around the next corner ... NATS "yelling..." The haunted plantation features a course so scary -- it's been known to bring even the bravest to tears. NATPOP "crying..." With costumes so vivid -- even some adults -- don't make it pass the first scare. NATPOP "yelling..." But it's not just guests getting spooked away. Sometimes the shows own performers -- who are supposed to be doing the spooking -- don't make it through the night. 1340 A "A LOT OF THE SCARERS WHO WERE SUPPOSED TO SCARE PEOPLE WERE ACTUALLY THE ONES WHO WERE SCARED." Noah Laporga says in the last 8 years... more than 40 have walked off the job. Maybe it's those creepy noises... NATPOP -- NOISES "..." And it goes well beyond the actors... JEFF NOAH AND I WALKING SHOT Jeff Higa says security guards have a high turn-around as well. His longest hire lasted JUST two weeks .... The shortest -- two days... 928 C "AND HE SAID THEY'D JUST BE WALKING THROUGH AND THE DOG WOULD SIT AND BARK AT SOMETHING IN FRONT OF THEM BUT THERE WAS NOTHING IN FRONT OF THEM. AND AFTER TWO DAYS HE SAID HE'S HAD ENOUGH AND COULDN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE." Over a century ago...This village -- was a thriving sugar plantation, housing families from many cultures. Including the portuguese... Now, this empty house is said to hold a child's spirit...a ghost who won't move on. 52 A "WE HAD A GIRL SPIRIT THAT WOULD APPEAR TO PEOPLE IN THE PORTUGESE HOUSE..." 406 B "THE GIRL SEEMED TO FAVOR THIS ONE DOCENT THAT WE HAD." 59 A "SHE WOULD TOUCH WOMEN SHE WOULD PLAY WITH THEIR HAIR..." That was five-years-ago... Then a Kahu was called in for a blessing. Higa says the priest compelled that spirit to move outside and the sightings stopped... Until two years ago. 115 A "THINGS HAVE BEEN GOING WELL THAT WAY BUT RECENTLY SHE STARTED APPEARING AGAIN." And just this year -- an employee reported unexplained bruises in the shape of a hand print -- after a night shift in that house. When she posted photos of them on facebook -- a former employee who worked that same shift -- in that same house -- noticed something eerily similar. 1510 A "THE PERSON WHO WAS ORIGINALLY STARRING THERE CUT SAID OH I HAD THE SAME THING ON MY LEGS TOO." Other spirits are said to roam around the plantation... 1620 A - PAN OFF "IT HAPPENED A FEW TIMES WHERE PEOPLE COULDN'T BREATHE IN THIS HOUSE, THE CHOKING GHOST, THEY FELT PRESSURE ON THEIR CHEST OR THROAT SO..." Laporga welcomes the unpaid assistance. A bonus feature that can appear during the tour -- and you might not even know it. 1922 "IT'S REPETITIOUS SOMETIMES WHEN THEY SAY WE SEE CERTAIN THINGS IN THERE THAT WE DON'T HAVE AND I JUST SAY OH OKAY, I'M GLAD YOU HAD FUN... HAHAHAHA! At Hawaii's Plantation Village... Brenton Awa -- KITV4 News. There's still time to check out the haunted plantation for yourselves... Tonights its last night open for the year...
