Kyo-ya Hotels and Resorts announced this week that it is reviewing its redevelopment plans for the property. Last November Kyo-ya said it would close the hotel by August 1 of this year to prepare for a $500 million redevelopment project.
"This is very important decision and Kyo-ya is very committed to the community and what impact this project will have in Waikiki," said Kyo-ya president Takamasa Osano.
Osano said he wants to "carefully review the plans before moving forward."
