Maui County police and Maui County Mayor Alan Arakawa spoke at a press conference in Wailuku Tuesday afternoon and said that they are continuing investigations into the disappearance of Moreira Monsalve and Carly "Charli" Scott.
Police say they believe the two cases are not connected.
"They are doing all they can to find these two women," said Arakawa.
Both the mayor and police are asking the public to stop the barrage of rumor that could cloud the cases.
Monsalve and Scott were both last seen by ex-boyfriends.
Police say there are no suspects in either case. There are persons of interest, specifically the ex-boyfriends, because they were the last ones to contact them.
Police also say that Monsalve's ex-boyfriend, Bernard Brown, has left the island and they could not stop him from leaving.
