Honolulu police have confirmed that an arrest was made in connection with the murder of a 83-year-old man in Chinatown.
An 18-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday at around 1:20 p.m. at an apartment complex on North King Street near Akepo Lane in Kalihi.
The man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder.
On Dec. 4, Mamerto "Eddie" Semana was hospitalized in critical condition after he called 911 in the early morning hours. He was found near Kukui Street and College Walk with severe head injuries.
Emergency Medical Services officials believe the attack happened hours earlier. Semana died the day after he was hospitalized.
Semana lived on the streets of Chinatown, according to those who knew him.
Arnold Felix, who lived next to Semana for about a year, said his friend went to the bank to get money and slept by himself on the day he was attacked.
