Investigators looking for at least 3 men who fled in a 4-door sedan

Honolulu Police opened an attempted murder investigation after a shooting in Kalihi Saturday morning.

Police say the shooting happened just before 5 a.m. near Mookaula Street after an argument erupted between two groups of young men who had been drinking together.

Ace Asis, 13, lives nearby and said his father saw the fight. “They were telling each other, ’Come shoot me, shoot me,’" he said, motioning as if he was holding a gun in his hand.

Police say at least three shots were fired. The bleeding victim flagged down an employee near the back entrance of the Kapalama Post Office.

Emergency Medical Services officials say the 18-year-old man was taken to the hospital in serious condition with multiple gunshot wounds.

Police are looking for at least three men who they say fled in a 4-door sedan on King Street.

Police say the search for the suspects is a challenge because the victim has changed his story several times.

Businesses in the area where the shooting happened say the incident makes them nervous and concerned about how it will affect their customers. “It’s difficult and it may scare people away,” said a bar manager at Halona Lounge on Kamenani Street.
