HONOLULU -

Honolulu police are investigating an attack on the Wa'ahila Ridge Trail in St. Louis Heights Friday that sent a man to the hospital.

The 29-year-old man was jogging about a mile into the trail in the morning when another man assaulted him from behind.

The suspect demanded the victim's iPhone.  The victim would not give it up.

The two men fought and the victim was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in serious, but stable, condition with cuts on his arms and legs.

Some at the park were stunned to hear of the attack at the popular trail.

"I have been coming here all my life since hanabata days," said Martin Kalani Eby.  "We have never seen anything like that in our lives.  It's kind of shocking and surprising."

The suspect was last seen going into the bushes.

The suspect is described as heavy set last seen wearing a gray and white t-shirt and shorts.
