An Office of Hawaiian Affairs trustee says there's a level of distrust among board members and now she's suing that office.
Longtime board member Rowena Akana and her attorney Eric Seitz claim OHA is unnecessarily restricting her when she tries to access information from past meetings.
Akana claims it's been happening for nearly five years, and it's difficult to make the right decisions without an open and honest exchange of information.
"If we're doing the things we're supposed to, what is the problem with sharing info or making it available to each of the trustees responsible to making decisions at the table?" Akana told KITV.
Akana says it took several months after she asked for the minutes and official logging of executive meetings numerous times before she was given the information.
OHA told KITV it has no comment until its attorneys have a chance to review the lawsuit.
