Microsoft store opening generates musical buzz

Concert tickets handed out for Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Neon Trees

HONOLULU -

More than 3,000 people stood in line overnight for the grand opening of the Microsoft store at Ala Moana Center Thursday.

It wasn't just the high-tech gadget they wanted.  The first 2,000 in line received tickets for a Thursday night concert at the Kaka'ako Waterfront Park featuring Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and Neon Trees.

The first 200 in line got backstage passes.

The new Microsoft store is across from the Apple Store.  You can find the latest gadgets like the Surface tablet, Windows Phone, and X-Box.

A treasure trove of rarities, oddities and tech "firsts" has been brought together -- including an experimental 17th century mechanical calculator, a 108-year-old telephone and an incredibly rare, headline-grabbing Apple 1 computer -- to be sold at auction Friday in Cologne, Germany.
