DEARBORN, Mich. -

A team from Maui High School placed fifth in the country in an auto repair competition in Michigan on Tuesday.

Mitchell Borge and Lawrence Paet, along with instructor Shannon Rowe, gave a shaka after receiving their trophy.

Teams from all 50 states were challenged to diagnose and repair problems in a Ford Explorer XLT as part of the Ford AAA Auto Skills Competition.

They were racing against the clock and each other. The Maui team took one hour, 13 minutes and 58 seconds to fix their car, and the repairs were perfect.  That score was combined with the results of a written exam taken on Monday.

The winning team is from Oregon, who took just under 56 minutes to complete the repairs.
