An 18-year veteran of the Maui County Police Department was arrested and charged with abuse of a family or household member for the second time in about three weeks.
Nelson Johnson, 46, was charged with two counts of abuse of a family or household member with injury and one count of assault in the second degree.
Police did not reveal who the victim was in this latest incident.
Bail was set at $5,000 and Johnson posted bail.
In the first arrest on Nov. 19, Johnson was accused of slapping his 13-year-old daughter during a verbal argument. The impact caused the girl to fall backward and she hit her head on a wall-mounted air conditioning unit. She sustain a concussion and was released in good condition.
